Assistant coach Mark Harvey answers your searching questions this week in ‘Ask the Coach’. Harvey is under the pump this week responding to questions about the Bombers’ 66-point defeat by Brisbane last weekend. ""At the end of the day it all comes down to the players and whether they want to redeem themselves. We think we are a quality side and hopefully we don’t fall into that trap again,"" Harvey said.

Q. What the hell happened at half time? I drove all night from South Australia to watch this game and I saw two. The first half was absolutely fantastic. I really thought that we had a chance. But after half time what a disgrace! I wonder if the players realise blockbusters are games that sort the men from the boys! (Jason Jamieson)
A. Brisbane controlled the midfield and they were able to sustain the pressure and we couldn’t. Therefore we have to look at the structure of our side. We have trained hard all of this week and we approach this game after being embarrassed by our second half last week. At the end of the day it all comes down to the players and whether they want to redeem themselves. We think we are a quality side and hopefully we don’t fall into that trap again.

Q. David Hille tries his heart out, I don’t question that. But watching television footage it amazes me how he appears to continually watch the opposition ruckman and not the ball and many times making it a no contest? (Barry Douce)
A. That is as fair enough comment. All I can say is that he is working heavily with our ruck coach Simon Madden to rectify that problem.

Q. Is any team capable of beating the Lions this year when they are thrashing everyone despite having key players missing? (James Fulton)
A. Every game is different and every situation is different. Next time we might play them in an outdoor stadium and it might be completely different – it might be raining for instance.

There are a lot of different circumstances in the end and next time we play them we won’t have the same players in the team and neither will they, so it is a completely different ball game. We certainly have the ability to match them and we showed that up until half-time last week. It does go without saying that Brisbane are a quality side and their track record proves that.
