It wasn't all bad news for the Bombers on the weekend with the stats sheet revealing some excellent individual performances. None more so than that of Brent Stanton whose 25 possessions and four goals was clearly the highlight of the day for Essendon fans.

Angus Monfries also made an excellent start to his life as an AFL player collecting 18 possessions and kicking two goals. His relentless running of the lines impressed as did his willingness to mix it with bigger bodied players. Kepler Bradley also did quite well collecting 16 touches and taking seven marks at centre half back.

The highlight of the day from a team point of view came at the stoppages where Essendon prevailed 16-13. In fact the Bombers made a clean sweep of stoppages in the final quarter 8-0. This went a long way towards setting up the five-goal quarter while Richmond could manage just two goals.
