Essendon ruckman and 2008 Crichton Medallist, David Hille, is expected to return to training on Friday after being stung by a stingray late last week.
Football operations manager, Paul Hamilton, said the 27-year-old was stung on his shin on Sunday while doing a private extra recovery session on St Kilda beach.
“He went to hospital and had a minor operation where they removed the barb from his leg,” Hamilton said.
“He was in a lot of pain and was kept overnight for observation but, since then, he has recovered well.
""We expect him to get back into some form of training on Friday and we will monitor him and build up his program over the following week.
Essendon midfielder Mark McVeigh says new recruit Michael Hurley could make his AFL debut as early as Round 1 of the home and away season if early impressions are anything to go by. The 192cm, 18-year-old has been under McVeigh’s watchful eye since being taken with pick No. 5 in the 2008 NAB National Draft.
