One of the great things about the 2010 season has been the emergence of a number of promising young players.

Talented Bombers like Cale Hooker, Leroy Jetta and Scott Gumbleton have taken a big step but who has been the biggest improver?

Last we asked 'will Essendon play finals footy in 2010?' to see if the fans were feeling confident and 61.65% said 'yes', 16.99% voted 'no' and 21.36% sat on the fence and picked 'maybe'.

Here is what some of the fans had to say:

Andy toma from Melbourne, Vic says: Definately 5 or 6. Go bomberzzzzz and great to see what Essendon means to all you people know exactley how much it means to me.

Anne from says: I think we'll just sneak in. While our form is improving, we'll also have to rely on other teams (eg Sydney) playing below par and that appears to be happening at the moment.

Joseph Attard from Taylors Hill says: I think it's definitely possible for the Bombers to make the 8, if we learn how to strong 3-4 games together at a time, I think it's within our grasp.

Brett Martin from Victoria says: I personally think the losses to Port and West Coast will hurt us in the end but you never know, we just have to win a couple of games we don't think we can, such as Geelong, Dogs ect good luck with that though.

Cam from Victoria says: Still too early. Injuries could end this run, or lack of injuries and match time could provide wins. It could go either way, we will not win the flag, but we may play finals, yeah. Looking forward to the next 10 years, really!! :) Go Bombers!!!

Sam Cantwell from Vic country says: Put in a good performance tomorow night against the dogs and yes. Until then I'm stickin with maybe. Happy with form last 4 weeks

Gary Walker from NSW says: A few defining matches now, between knocking door of finals, or ‘also runs’. Ryder great but obviously missed Hille last year, defence settling, centre coming of age assisting Jobe, forward line not a ‘one man band’ ;) Great depth (flexibility) cover injuries, now experience, killer finishing should see us as a tough unit soon. I think we still need a forward ‘Fletch type’ to control tight games, like Hird, Terry Danhier - a coaches on field voice. Knights has talent to work with, great potential. Go Mighty Bombers!

Duncan from South Melbourne says: At the start of the year I'd hoped so. After a lacklustre start we seem to be back to building solid momentum and playing much more consistent footy which is obviously a good thing. Will this young list be able to carry this momentum all the way through until September? I still hope so. I think a prevailing difference between this and last year is that our team lists have considerably more depth to them - which can only be a good thing? Go dons!

Billy from Tas says: I think even though they are playing well we could make it but we have just too many difficult games to win enough, we go a bad draw and our poor start to the year will see us miss out by a game or two.

Justin Millard from Quambatook says: Yes! I need to have faith in this side. I will back them in right til the end! At least this side is faring better than my Dream Team =)

Harry Laycock from South Australia says: Essendon will defiantly make the finals at the rate they are going at the moment!!!!

Marty Mills from QLD says: With 5 wins, 3 of them from the top 6, September action is a reality. Essendon's inability to be convincing away from Melbourne over the last few years and the draw this year should play in its favour. The ability to win 4 games straight is a necessity for self belief. With their tough draw this year and if the Don's make the eight, they will take teams down in September.

Shirley Price from Victoria says: Go Bombers - just great to see the massive improvement with our young guns and the speed they carry with them. Keep up the good work and good luck for the rest of our season.
