It was a weekend for breaking hoodoos with the strongholds in Perth and Brisbane snapped. Both were significant results, with Port Adelaide moving a game clear on top of the ladder with their away win over Fremantle while Melbourne burst the Lions’ Gabba bubble. Added to that a draw and a one-point result and all in all it wasn’t a bad weekend of football.
Matthew Lloyd has missed a set shot after the siren to produce a thrilling draw against the Western Bulldogs. A draw was the most fitting result of such an even contest but brings little joy for either side.
