There are 13 living former Essendon captains dating back to 1965 who stand alongside our current captain, Matthew Lloyd, as club greats. The Lawdons will honour the magnificent contribution and commitment these men made to the Essendon Football Club at the Windy Hill Venue on Thursday 28th August.

Be a part of this special occasion and join coach Matthew Knights, club directors, Lawdons members and officials as they pay special tribute to ‘The captains of Essendon’.

Tony Charlton will be the Master of Ceremonies for the evening and will interview captains including; Ken Fraser (‘65–‘68), Don McKenzie (‘69), Barry Davis (‘70–‘71), Des Tuddenham (‘72–‘75), Graham Moss (‘76), Ken Fletcher (‘77–‘79), Simon Madden (‘80–‘81), Neale Daniher (‘82), Terry Daniher (‘83–‘88), Tim Watson (‘89–‘91), Gary O’Donnell (‘96–‘97), James Hird - subject to overseas commitments - (‘98–‘05), and Matthew Lloyd (‘06– ).

Tony will also introduce Essendon stalwart Jack Jones, who captained Essendon once and played in three premierships alongside Dick Reynolds (1946, 1949, 1950).
