Damien Peverill missed out on playing in last year's Grand Final but he still feels very much a part of the rivalry that has built up between these two clubs in recent years. And this weekend that rivalry will reach new heights - both sides are unbeaten after two rounds and look to have exciting seasons ahead. Peverill can't wait to hit the Gabba this Saturday night.

""Brisbane were firing last week against Hawthorn and we had a pretty good win over the Tigers. There is a real rivalry between Essendon and the Brisbane Lions now - it is going to be a big game on Saturday night,"" said Essendon's 2001 best first year player.

Brisbane is renowned for its quick mid-field, led by 2001 Brownlow Medallist Jason Akermanis and captain Michael Voss. Peverill picked up Akermanis last year in Essendon's round 10 clash against Brisbane at the Gabba. An injury-depleted Essendon went down by 28-points that night. ""I am not sure who I will pick up this weekend. Brisbane has four key midfielders - Akermanis, Voss, Black and Lappin - they are all great players so I will have my work cut out whoever it is,"" the 22-year-old said.

This weekends match is significant for two reasons - it is the Grand Final replay and it is also Kevin Sheedy's 500th as coach. Peverill says the team hasn’t paid much attention to the game being the Grand Final replay saying they simply want to win this week and focus on being as good as they can be. ""Last week we spoke about the game being Sheeds' 750th as player and coach. We like to make a point if it is someone’s milestone however we go out there every week trying to do our best and win,"" the former Keilor Park player said.
