The senior team might be enjoying a football free weekend but that is not the case for the Bendigo Bombers. Bendigo is in action this Sunday against the Northern Bullants. And there will be some familiar Essendon faces in the line-up. Earlier in the week Essendon sought VFL permission to play Marc Bullen and Ben Haynes in the match.
Haynes has only played the past three weeks since returning from a thigh injury. The 23-year-old is still lacking match fitness and will benefit from the VFL match. Unlike Haynes, Bullen has enjoyed an injury free season, but in the nine senior matches he has played hasn't got a lot of game time. He too will benefit from a solid four quarter hit-out.
Joel Reynolds is also back in action this weekend. Reynolds has been sidelined with glandular fever for the past eight weeks and was taken off the long-term injury list last week. Football manager Dominic Cato said earlier in the week that the club is not expecting Reynolds to have an impact in his first few matches back.
""Joel will play as much of the match as he can. We will gauge |
At the half-way mark of the season Bendigo has five wins on the board and sits in eighth position on the ladder. The team will be keen to get off to a positive start to the second half of the season. Bullen and Haynes' inclusion will hopefully help set-up the team's sixth win of the year.
The Bendigo v Northern Bullants match kicks off at 2pm on Sunday, June 27th at Preston City Oval. Essendon supporters are welcome to attend and help support the red and black.
