Paul Barnard, one of the stars on Grand Final Day 2000, will tonight face the AFL tribunal charged with striking West Coast mid-fielder Richard Taylor. Barnard was yesterday cited on video evidence by umpire Kieron Nicholls for allegedly striking Taylor in the fourth quarter. Barnard, who played his 100th AFL match this season, has only made one other tribunal appearance in his career. That appearance came in 1995 when he was found guilty of striking Nathan Bower of Richmond and was supended for two matches.
Another tribunal hearing just as important to the Bombers will also take place tonight when Gary Moorcroft faces the VFL tribunal charged with striking. Moorcroft was reported by two umpires after the alleged incident against North Ballarat last Sunday.
