The Bombers have put an end to their six-game losing streak tonight, producing a gutsy performance to seal a three-point win over the Kangaroos at Etihad Stadium.

For the first time in a month, Essendon were able to produce a strong, four quarter performance which saw a number of contributors putting up their hands.
Kyle Hardingham shone on debut, kicking four goals and marking strongly, while Jobe Watson and Jason Winderlich were inspirational through the middle of the ground.

Winderlich said the jubilant playing group were relieved to make their way back onto the winners' list by producing their attacking brand of football.

“There is a lot of relief tonight. We’ve been under the pump a lot in the last six weeks and for the last three or four we just haven’t been playing Essendon footy,” Winderlich said.

“The last three weeks we’ve played a pretty reactive type of footy and it was just time to come out and throw a bit of caution to the wind.""

Winderlich said that after losing ground on healthy lead in the first quarter, the Bombers concentrated on moving the ball forward.

“It was good to come into quarter time with a lead on the board and we just felt that if we could just try to constantly hit our targets through the corridor that would make the difference,” Winderlich said.

“To go up against a good competitive side like North Melbourne and get a win is sensational.""
The Bombers have a tough month of football ahead, kicking off with the club's annual Call to Arms match against St Kilda next Friday night.
