Bendigo has put on a dominant display in their opening game of the VFL season defeating Frankston by 84 points at Frankston oval.

Essendon’s VFL affiliate got off to a strong start booting sevengoals in the first quarter to lead by 45 points at quarter time and never looked back.

Ariel Steinberg and Sam Lonergan both starred for Bendigo booting three goals each.

Bendigo coach Hayden Skipworth said there were plenty of pleasing signs in his team’s victory.

“I couldn’t have asked for anything better, we got off to a good start and stuck to our structures all day,” Skipworth said after the game.

“We were wrapped with the preparation we had leading in this week, we came down here to win and that is what we did.

“I couldn’t have asked for anything more out of the boys today in particular early in the game.”

Essendon listed players Tom Bellchambers was dominant in the ruckwhile Sam Lonergan and Kyle Reimers also showed strong signs during the encounter. Promising defender Jake Carlisle was influential for the Bendigo side.
