INTRA CLUB MATCH TO KICK OFF BOMBERS' SEASON
The Essendon squad will get their first taste of match practice on Monday when they play an intra club match at Optus Oval. Football manager Dominic Cato expects the full squad to play at various stages of the match. ""Apart from the injured players, the entire team will be involved in the intra club match. It will be a good opportunity for the players to have a run before next Saturday’s Exhibition match against Sydney,"" Cato said. The intra club match kicks off at 11am and Essendon supporters are welcome to attend.

The Bombers had a light skills session in Warrnambool this morning at Reid Oval. The squad will return to Melbourne later today and will enjoy the weekend off after an intensive week in Warrnambool. Dean Rioli was the only causality from the four-day training and promotional camp. Rioli slightly strained his hamstring on Tuesday afternoon in a beach session. Cato said Rioli is likely to miss the intra-club match.

In 2003 Marc Bullen demonstrated that he was prepared to do what ever it takes to make it at the top level. He worked hard on the track and got himself into peak physical condition to play in the Bombers’ engine room. Bomber coach Kevin Sheedy sees no reason why the 2003 Rising Star nominee won’t become one of the team’s top mid-fielders. ""Bullen is a player that is desperate and hungry for success and we need those type of players in our team. If he keeps working at the rate that he is, I hold no reason why he won’t have a good strong career at Essendon,"" Sheedy said.
