The ankle injury is a disappointing blow for the 19-year-old, who has trained exceptionally well over the pre-season. Hunt made his senior debut in Round 20 last season and finished up playing three games. He was hoping to build on this senior experience in the Wizard Cup and lay the foundations for a spot in the senior line-up. ""I am disappointed but I am confident I will be available for Round 1. I will work with John Quinn over the next few weeks and make sure I do everything I can to get the ankle right for the start of the season,"" Hunt said.
In other developments, Bomber coach Kevin Sheedy reiterated at Essendon training this morning at North Sydney Oval that he will not tolerate complacency from any senior players. Sheedy was disappointed by the performance of several experienced players in the exhibition match on Sunday and said some of them would not want to get too comfortable at this stage of the season.
""I think some of our senior players got a rude awakening in Sunday's match because when they went off we played better and I told them that. Perhaps when you clear three or four players, the players left behind can start to feel a bit comfortable - I can assure them they would not want to start thinking that way,"" Sheedy said after the exhibition match. ""The young players showed us on Sunday what they are capable of and I am definitely keen to give them another chance in the Wizard Cup match against the Kangaroos,"" Sheedy said.
