In just five short weeks, VFL football will return to Windy Hill when Essendon plays host to the Murray Kangaroos.

The ground is currently undergoing a facelift in preparation for the return of VFL football.

The coaches boxes are being restored, the kiosk on the Cookson Stand wing will be up and running and the old Windy Hill scoreboard will once again be in working order.

VFL coach Terry Daniher said today he was very excited at the prospect of football returning to Windy Hill.

"It's a great old ground and I have many fond memories of playing football here," Daniher said.

"And I'm sure spectators will enjoy watching here as much as the players will enjoy playing here.

"I'm certain Essendon supporters will get behind the team in its first season in the VFL competition. It would be great to rustle up a few thousand at each game here."

Essendon's VFL side is presently 1 - 1 after two rounds. It soundly defeated richmond in the opening round before going under to St Kilda last Sunday.

The Windy Hill Social Club will be holding a VFL launch on Thursday, April 13th and it promises to be a memorable evening.

"The night will be hosted by former Bomber great Simon Madden and there will be a panel of speakers including former VFA legend Phil Cleary, Barry Round and Essendon assistant coach Terry Daniher" Social Club manager Alan Burton said.

"These former players just love the game and love the concept of VFL football and the return of the game to Windy Hill. It promises to be a very entertaining night."

The cost of the evening is just $30 and that includes a two-course dinner.

The Windy Hill Social Club will also be having Match Day Functions with the first of those scheduled for Saturday, April 29th.

These functions will be held in the first floor Premiers Room a special guest speaker will be at each lunch.

For just $27 those in attendance will receive a two-course luncheon and a reserved grand stand seat.

To book for either of the above functions simply phone the Windy Hill Social Club on 92300335.
