Essendon members last night voted to repeal the clubs existing constitution and replace it with an updated version.

The motion was put forward and carried at a meeting of members held at Moonee valley racourse last night.

Over 120 members attended the meeting and with proxy votes, the final vote in favor of the motion was 2790 to nine.

"I'm delighted the board's recommendations were passed. It was basically a housekeeping exercise but it was required to ensure the club's constitution remains in line with modern business practice and reflects the way in which the club is presently being managed," Essendon chairman Graeme McMahon said.
