Everyone loves a happy ending and Essendon's Paul Weston finally got that after so many disappointments.

Weston came to Windy Hill aged 25 after 10 season with Glenelg in the SANFL.

He made his Essendon debut in Round 2 in 1983 and was carrying the memories of playing in four losing Grand Finals with Glenelg.

He was obviously looking for a change of luck but, by the end of his first season in the VFL, he had added to that tally by playing in his fifth losing Grand Final after Essendon were belted by Hawthorn.

For Weston though, things did improve and he played in both the 1984 and 1985 premiership wins with the Bombers and returned to West Torrens a very relieved man.
