It was a bittersweet afternoon at the selection table for the Bombers today. On the downside, James Hird will be missing because of a groin injury; on the positive side emerging talent Danny Jacobs returns after a bout of the flu. In other selection news, David Hille was omitted to make way for running big-man Judd Lalich. Damien Hardwick was selected on a half-back flank, ending speculation that he would miss this weekend's game becuase of a chest injury. Emergencies for this weekend's match are Marc Bullen, Jonathon Robran and Jordon Bannister.
Steven Alessio will make his return this weekend in the VFL. The Essendon VFL side takes on top of the table Werribee at Werribee this Saturday. The VFL side has alo been strengthened by the return of star rookie Damien Peverill. Peverill missed last weekend's match because of an ankle injury.
