Essendon ruck man Paddy Ryder has been shortlisted for this year’s Deadly awards for his contribution to the Indigenous community.
The Deadly Awards celebrate thecontribution of Indigenous and Torres Strait Islanders to the AustralianCommunity. The Awards are split into categories for music, sport, the arts andcommunity and work at highlighting the efforts of these people and creatingrole models for young indigenous Australians.
Ryder has been nominated for the mostoutstanding achievement in the AFL alongside Lewis Jetta, Lance Franklin, EddieBetts and Cyril Rioli.
On the field Ryder plays an important rolefor the Bombers as he does off it with important work as the club’s indigenousprograms ambassador.
Although not directly nominated, Nathan Lovett-Murray and his music label ‘Payback Records’ are happy to see their upcomingindigenous hip hop group ‘Yung Warriors’ receive two nominations.
The YungWarriors are nominated for Single of the Year with their song ‘StandingStrong’ as well as for hip-hop artist of the year.
