The 2006 season has come to a premature end for two young Bombers with Andrew Lovett and Henry Slattery set to undergo season-ending surgery. Lovett has a cracked bone in his hand - an injury he sustained against Sydney - while Henry Slattery will have an arthroscope on his hip.

Lovett could be operated on as early as this week while Slattery's operation will not take place until later this month. Slattery's operation was going to take place at the end of the season but a quad strain meant his season was finished anyway and it was decided to get it done sooner rather than later.

It ends a frustrating season for both players. Lovett has struggled to find consistency for much on the season with injury and suspension making it difficult for him to string games together. Slattery has been in the same boat with a string of leg injuries making it difficult for him to string games together.
