Essendon Football Club today launched into the second round of the 3 from 3 competition for 2008, offering fans the chance to kick for $10,000.
Thanks to 3 mobile, the major sponsor of Essendon, three fans had the chance to experience the thrill of kicking a goal from 50m in front of a Bomber home crowd and win big.
Unfortunately Essendon were unable to give away the money on this occasion despite James Mount of Curtain in the ACT coming close.
Each contestant was given three shots from directly in front of goal. The first shot was from the goal-square, the second shot from a spot 25 metres out from goal and the third from 35 metres out from goal.
After the three fans had attempted shots from each distance, scores were tallied and the person with the most points from the three attempts had the opportunity to kick for goal from the 50-metre mark for the chance to win money.
On this occasion it was Mount, who had kicked truely at the previous three distances. Unfortunately his kick from 50m went wayward and the $10,000 went begging.
All contestants were 3 mobile customers and had the chance to kick for $10,000. Contestants who are not 3 Mobile customers kick for $5,000.
Today’s three participants received an Essendon Football Club jumper and EFC/3 cap that they wore during the competition.
Essendon will be playing for more than four points when they line up against Hawthorn at the Dome this weekend. The game will be a tribute to Bill Hutchison - an Essendon great who won two Brownlow medals, played in four Premiership sides and 10 Grand Finals, and who captained the Club 122 times.
