Ticket sales for the NAB Cup match between Essendon and St Kilda at the Wangaratta Showgrounds have exceeded all expectations, with the game being declared a sellout.

The official opening of the Wangaratta Showgrounds redevelopment will coincide with the game, set to commence at 7.00pm.

The Bombers will face the Saints on Saturday night in the second round of the NAB Cup competition before taking on Sydney at Etihad Stadium next Friday.

Essendon CEO Ian Robson said the declaration of a sellout crowd was a sign of the continued support from regional football fans.

“It is great to be able to bring the NAB Cup to the wider community and it has generated such a positive response from the public which is particularly pleasing,” Robson said.

“We look forward to a great game against St Kilda this Saturday at the newly redeveloped Wangaratta Showgrounds.”
