Essendon vice-captain Mark Mercuri has been cleared of bone damage and stress fractures to his right foot. Mercuri had scans earlier today after his foot was stood on during play in the third quarter of the match against Port Adelaide. ""The incident wasn't serious but it has resulted in a lot of soreness for Mark. As a precautionary measure he had scans today and luckily it revealed no bone damage. Mercuri's foot is slightly bruised but we expect him to train later in the week and he is almost certain to play against Hawthorn,"" football manager Matthew Drain said.

The team will have a skills session tomorrow at the MCG in preparation for Friday nights must win match against Hawthorn.
