Former Essendon player and cancer survivor Adam Ramanauskas has encouraged Bombers supporters to join the fight against cancer when Essendon Football Club host the Cancer Council’s 10th annual Relay for Life at Windy Hill on the 27th and 28th of February 2009.

“It would be fantastic to see a large contingent of Essendon fans out there in February raising funds for cancer while having a great time,” Ramanauskas said.

“This is an important fundraiser for the Cancer Council and it is something which I am sure Essendon supporters will want to get behind.”

The 24-hour event raises funds for cancer research, education and patient support programs.

In 2008 the Moonee Valley Relay for Life raised over $260,000 but Ramanauskas hopes the tally may be greater this year.

“In the 10th year, it would be fantastic to be able to set a record fundraising figure for the event,” Ramanauskas said.
