Robert Shaw’s thoughts:
Some of Sean's football was very, very good and he stood up for us when we had injuries early on in the year. He was slightly hampered by injury throughout the course of the year. He is very important to our overall team structure. We are looking for more of Sean over the next two years, because he is a really important player to our footy club both on and off the field.

What some of fan’s had to say:
Sean is one of the most consistent backmen going around today, Essendon definitely picked a winner when the got Sean from Adelaide in the mid 90's. As well as being a very polished player, Sean has definitely deserved to reach his 150 game milestone. Russell Bennett
Sean had a solid year without being spectacular. Continued his sweeping role to good effect. Looking forward to another solid year next season. Paul Patrick

always reliable player and great in our backline and rebounding from defensive great player for the club. Rachael Drummy

Sean is yet another one of Essendon's consistent players this year. His run off the back line is superb and he can take on just about anyone in the league. Like all players he did have a bad slump in the season but he recovered beautifully and ended the season in good form. Dale Clarke

Always commands respect for his honest play on the field. He may not be the best at lots of things but is certainly reliable, consistent and a rock. I hope he has a couple more valuable seasons left in him. Peter Rackham

Sean is one of the most reliable players on the list. He carries out his duties in a quiet and methodical way and is a major part of our formidable defence. Graeme Madden

Very consistent and major contributor in the backline. Doesn't make too many mistakes. Integral part of the team.Julie Ness

Welly is the backbone of our defence and should be congratulated on a consistent year. His best game undoubtedly against Melbourne round 17. Look forward to seeing Welly at his best once again in 2004.
