The match against a hard-at-it Dockers on Saturday saw Skipper James Hird and defender Damien Hardwick succumb to injury. Hird sustained a minor strain to a groin muscle and will be given every chance to recover. Selectors waiting until as late as possible this week to decide whether he will run out against the Western Bulldogs on Friday night.Hardwick will definitely play, resuming training on Wednesday night after a heavy blow to the back left him badly winded and suffering chest pain.

Also a good chance to return this weekend are Steve Alessio (knee) and Justin Blumfield (knee), their fate depending on their training form this week. Blumfield missed training tonight due to a university exam.

Others out injured include Dean Wallis (back related hamstring) who may return in two to three weeks and Michael Long (knee) due to be fit in two weeks.

Another worry for the Bombers was Damien Peverill, who failed to play after an ankle injury. He is expected return this weekend.
