Essendon premiership player and current board member Greg Brown was yesterday recognised in the Queens Birthday Honours.

Brown received a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for his services to community through support and fundraising roles for a range of charitable organisations.

Essendon Chairman David Evans said it is a great recognition and honour for Brown’s hard work serving the community.

“On behalf of everyone at the Essendon Football Club I would like to congratulate Greg on his Queens Birthday honour. He has made a huge contribution throughout the Australian community over many years through his work with charitable organisations and has played a significant role at the Essendon Football Club over the years,” Evans said.

Greg Brown was a premiership player in 1965 with the Bombers playing 83 games and is a life member of the club. Greg was the club’s first marketing manager in 1978 and Chairman of the Dick Reynolds club until 2005.

Brown is a past president of the Rotary Club of Frankston, current chairman of the Lord’s Taverners Australia and President of the Wranglers Charity Club, Frankston. He is the owner of Gregory J Brown Pty Ltd Financial Planning Business since 1973, a life member of the AMP Advisers Association, Trustee of the EFC Past Players Foundation and Chairman of Pretlock Ltd.
