Bomber coach Kevin Sheedy today paid tribute to former champion cricketer and media personality David Hookes.Hookes visited the club last year and spoke to the team about his cricket career and his experiences in the media. ""He spoke very, very well. It was interesting to hear about his decision making - to leave South Australia and come over here and take on a radio career in all sports operating with Gerard Healy. Then trying to get this Victorian cricket team up - it showed a lot of courage. I went to the Centenary Test and I thought this man is going to go a long way and he did both on and off the field,"" Sheedy said.

Sheedy said the tragedy sent a message to all people, including his players. ""I think the thing that has come out of all of this is common sense on their part. If it is a team out or a player out or whether it is person working as security - I think common sense is the issue and we will discus those things later on in the team meeting. I think everyone is society will have to address it because it is not good enough. You have a superstar man in mid-life and it is just so disappointing,"" Sheedy said.
