Essendon has completed its playing list for 2003 at today's AFL rookie list draft and it was a case of something old and something new for the Bombers. Essendon drafted Ben Haynes and Toby McGrath who both spent last year with the club as supplementary list players for the VFL side. And the Bombers have added Courtney Johns (East Fremantle) and Adrian Wilson (Central Districts) to the rookie list which already included Scott Howard and Ken Hall - rookies from 2002.

Johns, from East Fremantle, is an 18-year-old centre half forward who stands at 191cm. Wilson is an 18-year-old half forward / centreman. Haynes, who was formerly a listed player at Richmond, finished runner up in the VFL best and fairest award last season while McGrath - brother of Cory - also played some excellent football.

""We are pleased with our final list of rookies and it gives these boys a real chance to force their way on to the senior list,"" Essendon recruiting manager Adrian Dodoro said. ""We have had some excellent success with our rookies in recent years - they only have to look at last year's best and fairest winner to realise the opportunity they have got.""
