The Bomber fans agree that it was difficult to judge Rob Forster-Knight’s performance this season considering he only played four senior games this season. Essendon fans were impressed when the 21-year-old played two games in the one weekend in Round 10. Forster-Knight played for the Bendigo Bombers on the Saturday and then got the call-up from Kevin Sheedy to play on the Sunday against West Coast after Damien Peverill was sidelined with gastro. The majority of fans agreed that Forster-Knight is hard working and they would be pleased to see him get an opportunity at another club.

Robert Shaw’s thoughts:
Rob played 17 games last season and this season only managed four matches. We have had players come into the side like Adam McPhee and Andrew Welsh who have taken Rob's game time. It is not a point of whether Rob has slipped in his performance because he is still providing an outstanding contribution at VFL level. I don't think it can be said that he has dropped his standard, it is just that people in competitive positions where Rob plays - at half-back, wing and run with roles, have been taken by Welsh, McPhee and moving Mark Johnson and Dean Solomon into the mid-field has taken three areas of his game away from him. So Rob has been forced out by the competitiveness of that area.

What some of fan’s had to say:
From limited opportunities he performed admirably in the seniors. Seems to be given a tough task every time he plays. Anthony Jurkov

Big ask to play against West Coast after a full VFL game the day before. He was fantastic that day on a very respectable on-baller. Otherwise hasn't really taken that next step. Paul Mazziotta

Has been a big disappointment and is probably at the crossroads. Needs to make 2004 a big year otherwise he may be playing elsewhere in coming seasons. Wayne Geggie

Probably now on his last chance at Windy Hill - a good player with limited opportunities and needs to put his hand up for regular senior appearances - otherwise we might need to offer him his chance elsewhere. Michael Wyres

A disappointing year with only 4 games after 18 in 2002. 2004 will be really a make or break year for Rob, he needs to show real development in his ability to gather possessions otherwise he may not be around in 2005. Duncan Young

2003 shaped as a great opportunity after a solid 2002. Unfortunately Rob didn't seem to kick on and whilst he didn't play badly when given the chance he didn't seem to grab it by the throat. His determination is unquestioned but 2003 seems a wasted year and in 2004 he needs to make an impact. Rod Ansell

Hard working player who gets the maximum out of himself, but has failed to establish a regular spot in the seniors. Needs to be moved on to create space for newcomers to the club. John Harink

Did well to play VFL and AFL same weekend. Don't think he will be able to demand a spot in the side without a few injuries occurring. Stephen Pitts
