The Essendon Football Club today congratulated retiring AFL Commissioner Ron Evans for the outstanding contribution he has made to the game during his 14 years service in that role.

Evans, who played 64 games for Essendon between 1958 and 1962, also served as Chairman of the Essendon Football Club for the five years between 1988 and 1992.

“He has been a wonderful servant of this football club and the game of AFL football and we congratulate him on the role he has played during that time,” Essendon managing director Peter Jackson said today. “He has made an enormous contribution to this game and he leaves it in an extremely healthy position.”

“Ron has always been a great source of advice to this Club and myself on many levels and will continue to be in his retirement. The doors at Windy Hill will always be open to him be that as a celebrated player or outstanding administrator.”
