The Bendigo Bombers’ disappointing year has come to an end with a loss to the Werribee Tigers at Windy Hill.

A win was still in sight for Bendigo going into the fourth quarter, trailing by just four goals, but Werribee outclassed Bendigo kicking a massive twelve goals to Bendigo’s one in the final term.

The final scores were Bendigo Bombers 10.11 (71) to Werribee Tigers 25.16 (166).

“The fourth quarter was an avalanche, the game broke right open,” assistant coach Steve Thompson said.

“We had some Essendon players who could only play three quarters, because of next weeks’ final. Werribee came home hard, and we were out of man power.""

There were five late changes to the team with Bellchambers, Nash, Skipworth, Jetta and Quinn all being rested to prepare, possibly, for Essendon’s final next week, while Bock was a late inclusion.

“We played well with such an inexperienced side; Stuart Crameri was outstanding today with his run and carry, he was by far best on ground, possibly playing the best game of his career.  We also gave him a run on ball and in the ruck and he took a magnificent leap.  He was supreme today.

“Darcy Daniher is looking well, really fit and vibrant - he kicked two for us today, and will join the Essendon squad in preparation for next week.

“Blair Holmes, Tyson Slattery, and Jamie Hackett (in his second game for the season) all put in a good effort today, while Paul Scanlon and James Flaherty rounded out their consistent year with a great game.

“David Myers played terrific today, managing 23 possessions in just three quarters of the game, and coming off an injury.""

Bendigo’s only injury today was Darren Hulme, who left the ground early in the match with hamstring soreness.  Zaharakis was rested, after pulling up sore after a training session on Friday.
