It is the right shape, it has a lid and inside the atmosphere is so pressurised it is palpable. The Pressure Cooker of AFL football has arrived!

From this Friday night onwards the Essendon Football Club is hoping The Dome will now be known as 'The Pressure Cooker' for all Bomber home games.

The Pressure Cooker is a venue unlike anything else AFL football has to offer. A venue where the heart doesn't just beat, it fairly races. And it is a venue that Essendon fans must make their own.

Essendon coach Kevin Sheedy has urged Bomber fans to make 'The Pressure Cooker' a Bomber fortress, starting with this weekend's game against Fremantle.

""The Pressure Cooker is the new Windy Hill,"" Sheedy said.

""That's what I want our fans to see our home ground as - The Pressure Cooker. By being there and making some noise they can create an atmosphere that really lifts our team. I think our fans need to understand that.

""We've got the roof and the right shape and when it's filled it's like a Pressure Cooker! You can feel it even in the coaches' box and it is something the players have mentioned to me.""

Essendon chief executive Peter Jackson said The Pressure Cooker is a venue where Bomber fans can play a significant role in the team's on-field success.

""This stadium is unique and we want it to have a real Essendon identity,"" club chief executive Peter Jackson said. ""We now have a history at this venue and we want it to become a real part of this football club and an uncomfortable place for other sides to visit.

""And it is our fans that must create that 'Pressure Cooker' atmosphere. They must turn up the heat and make these sides feel as uncomfortable as we do when we are on the road.

""Those fans who haven't watched us play interstate don't understand just how intimidating it can be and how difficult those crowds make it to win. Our fans can return the favour by filling 'The Pressure Cooker' at each of our home games.""

And Essendon's major sponsor 3 mobile has got behind the launch of The
Pressure Cooker by providing 25,000 pot stirrers for Bomber fans to take to the
game this Friday night.

Bomber fans can get their complimentary set of pot stirrers at all 3 Shops this week. They will also be available at training on Wednesday at Windy Hill at 3pm and on game night. Click here for more information about getting your set of free pot stirrers.

""It is fantastic to have that sort of support from our major sponsor and that
will play a significant part in launching The Pressure Cooker,"" Sheedy said.
