Emerging Bomber forward, Jay Neagle, struggled with injury in 2008 but showed enough to suggest he could become a very dangerous forward for many years to come.

In the first of the 2008 'report cards' Neagle lifted his rating from almost 4/10 in 2007 to almost 6/10 this year. Bomber fans believe the 190cm Neagle - who is just 20 years old - will be part of an imposing Bomber forward line in 2009.

What some of the Essendon fans had to say:

Showed good promise, unlucky through injury. Another pre-season under his belt, with improved fitness could see Jay break out in 2009 (Ben White).

Liked what little we saw, could be, should be, a gun forward. Got the talent, the build and assume the attitude is developed by jay, his dad and coaches (Jim Calmer).

Showed some great signs that he is a ready made AFL full forward IF HE STAYS FIT. Love his size and habit of throwing himself into packs for a big grab (Julian McGuire).

Some flashes of excellence before he got injured, should be good in the years to come (Danielle Hutchison).

Continues to develop into a potential elite key forward.Fitness his major concern (Alan Betts).

Tough guy. Tall. ""the man"" when lloyd retires. This guy is gonna be the next john coleman.......we hope. Needs to stay fit though. Neagle should have made it into the team more often (Warren Huang).
