Brent Prismall pushed his claims for senior selection with an impressive performance in the Bendigo Bombers' 27-point loss to the Casey Scorpions last weekend.

The Bombers broke out to a 29-point lead at half-time, but an avalanche of goals to the Scorpions – led by former Coleman medallist Brendan Fevola – helped the home side overrun the Bombers and clinch the win.

Bendigo coach Shannon Grant said it was frustrating to give up their first-half lead.

""In the first-half we played some really good footy, so it was a little bit disappointing. They came out and kicked six goals in the first 11 minutes of the third quarter, and our work-rate and intensity around the footy dropped off,"" Grant said.

""As a result, you do that against a good side and they usually find themselves up in the contest, which they did.""

Grant praised Prismall's effort, particularly given the midfielder was in Brisbane the night before the Bendigo match as an emergency for the Essendon side that took on the Brisbane Lions.

He said the 24-year-old's attitude had been impressive, as has the form of Ricky Dyson this season as one of Bendigo's senior players.

""It was a great effort by 'Pris'. To go up to Brisbane the day before and then fly back, and turn up with the attitude that he did, he was great,"" Grant said.

""I'm certainly sure he's one of the guys, with his performances over the last three or four weeks, will be putting his hand up this week.""

""With Ricky, it's not only the way he's playing at the moment, it's also great how he's really directing and being a good leader out on the ground for all the young kids that he has around him.""

Grant said Alwyn Davey continues to work hard at getting back to his best after a fractured arm in the NAB Cup ruined the start of his home and away season, and that rookie ruckman Josh Jenkins played one of his best games for the season against the Scorpions.

""I think Josh took a step forward on the weekend, especially his first half I thought was really good. He has shown what he is capable of, so we need to keep working with him and keep developing him, and if he continues to go the way he is, he'll become a very good player for us.""

Bendigo has another challenge this week when it faces the league-leaders Port Melbourne at Windy Hill on Sunday at 2pm.
