Essendon big man David Hille has recovered well from his first competitive hit-out this pre-season and said he felt no discomfort in his knee during the NAB Cup Grand Final against Collingwood.
""It took me a little while to get into it but once I got going it was much better and it was just great to be out there,"" he said.
""Unfortunately for the team we just couldn't hold on and win.""
The Bombers ruckman was substituted onto the ground in the second half and said all going well he should be available for Round One.
""I'd hope so and I'd like to think so. I will train over the next few weeks and then hopefully I get selected,"" he said.
Essendon held its Family Day at Windy Hill on Monday and Hille said the Bomber faithful again turned out in their thousands.
""It's been an amazing turnout and it's fantastic to see so many supporters behind us,"" he said.
""They were great at the game on Friday night as well so hopefully it bodes well for the season.""
