A YEAR OF MILESTONES FOR THE BOMBERS
If all goes according to plan this season some of the great names of the Essendon Football Club will achieve playing milestones in 2003. No less than ten players including Joe Misiti, Dustin Fletcher, Mark Mercuri, Jason Johnson, Mark Johnson and Paul Barnard are on track to record significant playing achievements. Joe Misiti is scheduled to play his 200th game for the club in Round 4 against the Western Bulldogs. Misiti has been a long time servant of the club - he debuted in 1992 and was a member of the 1993 and 2000 premiership teams. The 200 game milestone has been a long time coming for the 28-year-old who has missed over 15 games in the past two seasons due to injury.

Misiti may have to share his 200 game milestone with teammate Sean Wellman. Wellman has played 146 games for Essendon since coming to the club in 1996 after the Adelaide Crows traded him. Wellman has enjoyed great success at his second club - he was runner-up in the 1998 best and fairest, received All-Australian selection in 1998 and 2001 and was a member of the 2000 premiership and pre-season premiership side.
Dustin Fletcher and Mark Mercuri are another two players that may join Misiti in the 200 club this season. Fletcher has currently played 190 games for the red and black and Mercuri is sitting on 182 games. Both also have achieved two premierships in their 11 seasons at the club and have been awarded life membership for their services.
Scott Lucas was drafted by the Bombers in 1995, one year ahead of his teammate Matthew Lloyd. However, the pair are a chance to share a significant milestone in the same season. If injury or suspension doesn't keep the spearhead out, he will play his 150th game for the Bombers in Round 7 against Richmond. Lucas is on schedule to play his 150th game in against St.Kilda in Round 14.
Other players on track to achieve milestones in season 2003: Paul Barnard - 129 games Mark Bolton - 38 games Jason Johnson - 88 games Mark Johnson - 86 games
