Robert Shaw’s thoughts:
Mark has proven to be a consistent and versatile player for us. The good thing about Bolts is that he isn't a one position player and he allows us flexibility at selection and generally is able to fulfill the many role that we give him. He has shown great improvement over the past two seasons and he has become a regular senior player.
What some of fan’s had to say:
A highly underrated player. He can play back, forward, midfield and ruck. Pleased he has a new 3 year contract as he will be contributing a lot in the coming years. Carol Edmeades
While Bolts didn't have an outstanding season he still made a solid contribution to the Bombers triumphs during the year. Well done Mark & I hope 2004 is a year where your skills & dedication will shine. Helen Scully
Has improved again in 2003. Showed he can play forward/back, tall/short. Very versatile. Would like to see him go to the next level and establish his own game, rather than tagging/defending in 2004. Paul Mazziotta
Very versatile player who is showing signs of fulfilling the faith the Coaching staff has shown him. Needs to start and have a real impact on games and perhaps settling into a forward or back role will help. Rod Ansell
He had a very good season and is showing very encouraging signs that he will take a key position in the near future. Rob Tinney
Bolts was terrific for the club for most of the year. I am very happy to see him re-signed for the next few years. With the departure of Jacobs his ongoing role will become more important to the club. Mark Eising
Had a good year, has finally landed a regular spot in the team, he can play many different roles which makes him that all more important to the Essendon side. James Ackland
I think Bolts had a very consistent season again this year, whilst learning to play CHF, I still think Bolts would be best played on a wing as a link man his endurance and pace for such a tall bloke make him a great asset to have around the club, I for one am very glad to see him sign on for another three seasons.
