Essendon is once again entering a team in the Relay for Life challenge, an event aimed at raising funds for cancer research.

The event will be held at Aberfeldie Park, kicking off at 6pm on Friday February 17 before concluding at 6pm on Saturday February 18.

Relay for Life is an overnight event giving families, friends and colleagues the chance to gather to celebrate cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost to cancer and fight back against the disease.

Team Essendon will once again this year challenge themselves to take it in turns to keep the baton moving in a relay style walk or run for 24 hours.

Essendon chief executive Ian Robson, an ambassador of Relay for Life, said the event is a powerful occasion for those who take part in it.

“For anyone that has had a link to cancer in any way this is a great opportunity to get together with the community for a unique and powerful experience,” Robson said.

“Relay for Life is an event raising funds for a great cause to help in fighting a disease that affects many of us in some way or another.”
