The 250th AFL game by Scott Lucas this weekend isn’t the only exciting milestone for the Bombers.

Key position prospect, Scott Gumbleton, will make his long awaited return from hamstring and knee injuries for Bendigo on Monday.

Speaking at his media conference today, coach Matthew Knights said he is excited by the return and has previously said he wants the 2006 pick No.2 in the national draft back in the senior line-up as soon as possible.

“This return from injury is fantastic for Scott and the club because he has done a lot of work to get himself back,” Knights said.

“I am going to enjoy driving out to Box Hill on Monday and seeing the big fella play.

""He’s in a good frame of mind and things are very positive. He is ready to play and we will look at 60-70 minutes for him.”

Ahead of his 250th game, Lucas said Gumbleton and Jay Neagle are a couple of very promising young forwards and he and Matthew Lloyd are playing key roles assisting them.

“Now Gumbleton is back on the track after his injuries there is a real need for me and Lloydy to pass on tips,” Lucas said.

“He just needs a fair crack and he came to the club with huge wraps and has shown enough in just a few games last year to make it clear that he has a huge future.”

Knights said Neagle will have another week off with a foot injury to get him 100 per cent fit and Jobe Watson will also miss again this week.

“Jobe is keen to play and has put his hand up but we want him to train for a full week and a half and get him completely right so he can play the rest of the year for us,” he said.

Knights wouldn’t be drawn on whether the Bombers were getting the Hawks at a bad time after their loss last week.

“You would think it (the loss) would see them come out and play good footy - you can expect them to be on the top of their game and we are looking forward to it,” he said.

“They deserve to be where they are. They are very, very good. They are good on the inside, exhilarating on the outside and have a potent forward line. But to us they are just another team and, like Adelaide, we will attack and go to win the game

“We have to stick to the strengths that we showed last week.

""We know their strengths and will work to address those behind the scenes but we can’t afford to lose sight of what we need to do as a group.”
