A powerful leadership seminar featuring a line up of prominent industry, business and sporting leaders will be the first initiative of a landmark alliance between Essendon Football Club and La Trobe University.

The alliance between Essendon and La Trobe will provide flexible business education for management professionals in business, government and sporting communities. The courses which La Trobe is providing under the alliance will offer flexibility in assessment timetables, exam timetables, and attendance at tutorials/lectures, as well as on-line curriculum materials, counselling and advice. The alliance will also facilitate research into areas of relevance to members of the club, its staff, sponsors and the broader community.

The alliance was “kicked-off” with a launch this morning at the Lumina Room, Grand Hyatt. James Hird was the keynote speaker at the launch and shared his experiences and reflections on leadership.

The two-day Leading a Winning Team seminar will be held at Essendon Football Club on 12 and 13 June, 2003. The panel of expert presenters will include:

Professor David Brown – Law & Management, La Trobe University

It will take place at the heart of one of Australia’s most famous sporting clubs - Essendon Football Club and the Windy Hill facility.
