The Essendon fans are looking forward to seeing more of Jobe Watson in the 2004 season. They agreed that injury robbed Watson of most of his season, but the one senior game that he did play, will hold him in good stead for next year. The fans also commented that Watson showed great potential and talent in the games he did play for the Bendigo Bombers.

Robert Shaw’s comments:
Jobe came to the club suffering the effects of a tough under-18 and school program. The transition between that and AFL requirements stand to be very difficult. He suffered several annoying injuries, which curtailed his ability to get fit. He played one senior game, which wasn't a successful game, but there has been no loss of faith in what Jobe can and will do. He is another player like Aaron Henneman, that when super fit will be a super player.

What some of the fans had to say:
Look forward to seeing Jobe develop next season. Showed early promise in Wizard Cup, and VFL. Would have been good if he could have played more than 1 senior game. Paul Patrick

It was disappointing to see Watson only played game this season. I am another person who thinks Jobe has plenty of skill and potential. Tully Anders

Jobe Got the first game out of the way but will be under the pump just as much next year. Club did the right thing by resting him at the end of the year to allow recovery time from the problem injuries of the last few years. Lets hope Jobe can have a full year in 2004. David Beasley

Too bad he had an early injury. However, there was too much hype for the young kid and he was not able to perform well at all from the expectations. But next season, he'll be ready to go and he will show everyone he can play just like his father. Abhinav Ramachandran

Now that game number 1 is under his belt I expect to see Jobe come out of his shell. Didn’t get the chance this year due to injuries, but if he's anything like his father, I look forward to seeing him on the field! Tina Saccone

Although he only played one game this season, he has a lot of potential and I think we'll be seeing a lot of him in the future. Danny Harris

Jobe produced a magnificent sidestep and handball in his debut game. I think with more confidence and experience under his belt, he will rate with Rob Harvey and Watson Snr as the most 'untackleable' player of his time! Ben Donovan

He did well considering the pressure he was under. Next year will be better.Melissa Bell
