Essendon's practice match against Richmond scheduled for Lavington tonight has been abandoned without a ball being bounced. A severe storm hit the area leaving the Lavington ground under water and leaving the AFL no alternative but to call the game off. ""There were lakes of water on the ground - it was basically unsafe,"" Essendon football manager Matthew Drain said. The match will now be played at Trevor Barker Oval, Sandringham tomorrow (March 17th) commencing at 11am.
