Essendon's non-selected players combined with St Kilda's in a scratch match against Geelong at Aspley Football Club on Saturday.

The Bombers fielded 11 players in the 16-a-side game, with Brayden Ham and Tom Cutler being held over as AFL emergencies.

Development coach Leigh Tudor has reviewed each of the players' performances below.

Conor McKenna

"Conor played the majority of the game on the ball. He was really quick and exploded from the contests, making good decisions and winning a lot of his own ball. He set up a lot of our scoring chains, so it was a great midfielder's game."

Mitch Hibberd

"Mitch played on the wing and had a great game. He kicked three goals and ran really hard. Two of his goals were from the goal-square as a winger, so that shows you how hard he ran as a winger. He had a lot of kicks out of defence, so he really helped us defend and attack."

Shaun McKernan

"McKernan played deep forward, kicked a couple and probably gave away three or four, so he was involved in a lot of our scoring chains. He marked well, made good decisions and set us up quite a bit."

Andrew Phillips

"Phillips played deep forward with a little bit of time in the ruck when Nick Bryan needed a rest. He kicked a goal, marked it well and led well. He's a very good player at this level."

Josh Begley

"It was one of the better games from 'Begs'. He played as a half-forward with a little bit of time on the ball. His kicking was spot-on and he set us up a lot, and that's what stood out from his game."

Noah Gown

"'Gowny''s last three weeks have been really good. His positioning and leading patterns were great and he won a lot of his own ball by being in the right spot at the right time. He finished the game with a bit of a sore ankle and couldn't come back on, so hopefully that's not too bad."

Harry Jones

"His leading patterns were good, he marked the ball at its highest point and he presented when he needed to. His forward-half pressure has been a standout for him, and it was very good again."

Cian McBride

"It was really good to see Cian play on a quality AFL player in Esava Ratugolea. He's a big, strong fella, so Cian had his work cut out but he did a good job. Esava kicked two goals but Cian won a few one-one-one contests as well and learnt a lot playing on such a good player. He held his own.

Ross McQuillan

"Ross attacked again and got involved in our ball movement going forward. That's one of his strengths, and he really enjoys getting the ball and using it. He used it well, made good decisions and was good defensively, so it was another good game from Ross."

Kobe Mutch

"'Mutchy' played half-back as well. He gave us lots of run off half-back and held his man in check, with his opponent not getting dangerous at all. It was a good defensive and attacking game from Mutchy."

Nick Bryan

"Nick played most of the game in the ruck and had a few spells in the forward line. He came up against Esava (Ratugolea) in the ruck at times, so that was a big test for Nick, but he held his own, won a few hitouts and took a few marks around the ground. His skills are quite good for a big fella."
