Rising star Michael Hurley has struck more injury trouble having sustained a broken a bone in his wrist while playing for Bendigo against Coburg on the weekend. Medical staff are still reviewing the extent of the damage but he could miss a month.
It is a blow for Hurley who was on the verge of senior selection having played two games for Bendigo since recovering from a quad injury.
He would have been the logical repalcement for Nathan Lovett-Murray who was tonight suspended by the AFL tribunal for three weeks for engaging in rough conduct.
The match day report laid against Essendon’s Courtenay Dempsey for engaging in rough conduct against Richmond’s Kayne Pettifer from Saturday’s game has been assessed and no further action will be taken. It was the panel’s verdict that Pettifer initiated contact with the Essendon players. Dempsey came in from the side and bumped Pettifer to the shoulder. The impact was not sufficient to constitute a reportable offence.
