Tributes and personal stories have poured in from the Essendon and wider football family following the passing of much-loved club doctor Bruce Reid.

Reid, who was this week elevated to Legend status in the Essendon Hall of Fame, lost his battle with mesothelioma at the age of 75 on Tuesday night.

Having arrived at the Bombers in 1982 after four seasons as Richmond's doctor, no doctor had served longer than Reid at clubland.

He was one of the game's most popular, respected, compassionate and well-loved characters, with his incredible and wide-ranging impact evident in the outpouring of love below.
