A head start to training for the Club’s younger players will benefit them immensely for the remainder of the pre-season.

The second to fourth year players have now finished what has been a rigorous two weeks of training to begin the pre-season.

In the time they have been back, Game Performance Manager – Mark Neeld, has been impressed with what he has seen.

The former Head of Development believes that the extra time on the track will put the pressure on the senior group, who will return to full training on Monday.

“We’re really confident that the second to fourth year players are ready for when the 5+ year players return to actually take the lead in training and hit the ground running,” said Neeld

“We’ve been pleased with what they’ve put out on the park Wednesday and today.”

After a good period of time away from the Club, the seniors will begin their pre-season as the team begins full preparations for the 2016 season.

Easing into training will be the key for the senior group next week, with the sessions increasing in intensity week-by-week.

“We have to be realistically patient with the older guys, in terms of maybe giving them one or two sessions to get used to just kicking the footy again,” said Neeld

“They would have worked hard enough in the off-season so we can actually start training the way we want to start training.

“Probably by this time next week, the entire group will be out there training for the same length of time and the same intensity.”
