The Essendon Football Club is thrilled to announce that Amy Gaylor has signed a contract extension that will see her remain in the red and black until at least the end of 2030.
The new deal represents a significant commitment from the Club and stands as the longest AFLW contract extension in Essendon’s AFLW history.
Recruited from Strathmore and the Calder Cannons, Gaylor made her AFLW debut in 2024 before enjoying a breakout 2025 campaign. Her impressive season earned selection in the AFLW All-Australian squad and the AFLPA 22Under22 team, while she also finished as joint runner-up in the Club's Best and Fairest.
Since arriving at the Bombers, Gaylor has featured in every AFLW game, quickly establishing herself as one of the competition’s most promising young talents. Her football IQ, composure and emerging leadership have become hallmarks of her game.
Still only 20 years old, Gaylor’s versatility and adaptability allow her to impact matches across multiple positions, making her a valuable asset for Essendon’s future.
AFLW List and Recruiting Manager Josh Moore said securing Gaylor long-term was a major priority for the Club.
"Amy is an exceptional young person and footballer, and we're incredibly excited to have her commit her future to Essendon," Moore said.
"She's already established herself as one of the competition's emerging stars through her consistency, professionalism and ability to influence games in a variety of roles.
"To have a player of Amy's calibre commit to the Club until 2030 is a significant moment for our AFLW program. It speaks to the environment we're creating and the belief our players have in where we're headed.”
Gaylor shares her excitement for this long-term commitment to the Club.
“As soon as I walked in here it felt like a second family to me,” Gaylor said.
“I’m really proud, thinking back to three years ago, walking into the Club, just trying to get through my first year and impress my teammates and coaches to now signing here long-term, it’s a really proud feeling.”
