Essendon has made four changes to its VFL list prior to the league's deadline on June 30.

The Bombers have added four players to its playing stocks, while two have departed as they look to push into finals action.

Charles Lill is officially back on the VFL playing roster after fighting his way back to football following a 12 month with cancer.

Lill was named among the best for the Doutta Stars in just his second game back on the weekend as he continues his push towards his goal of a VFL return.

Justin Van Unen joins the club after dominating with Mt Eliza Football Club for several seasons.

Bombers fans will be able to get to know the 26 year-old who will feature on the upcoming series of ‘The Recruit’ on Fox8.

East Point’s Nick Hind has also been added to the list, while Jack Furlong has been rewarded for his work this season with the club.

Jordan Schroder and Jydon Neagle have departed the club.

Essendon’s VFL Operations Manager Ash Brown said the club was excited about what the new players could bring to the team.

“Justin is a really strongly built medium to key sized forward, he’s kicked over 100 goals a couple of times in the Peninsula League, he is a smart forward and very clever around goals,” Brown said.

“We needed to strengthen our forward line just with the players that we have lost to long term injuries like Jacob Thompson, Alex Boyse, Matt Darby and Hayden Walters.

“Nick got best on ground in the Ballarat interleague game. He is lightly framed but a good runner that uses the ball and reads the play really well.

“He is just coming back from a slight ankle injury but is a good midfield/back prospect that has some attributes that we were really keen on.”

Like Lill, Jack Furlong has been training with the VFL side right throughout the season.

“We have decided to reward Jack with a contract. He works really hard on his game and is a good user by foot. He’s a young developing player that can play as our 23rd man,” Brown said.
