Essendon has recalled forward Alec Waterman, while last week's medical substitute Nik Cox will return to the starting line-up for Sunday's clash with North Melbourne at Marvel Stadium.

The pair replace Devon Smith (hamstring) and Brayden Ham (omitted) from the side that defeated Fremantle.

MATCH PREVIEW: BOMBERS v KANGAROOS

Sunday's match will mark Waterman's first since the round five loss to Brisbane, with the 24-year-old earning a recall after registering 26 disposals, five tackles and four mark in a midfield role in Sunday's VFL win over Frankston.

The Bombers will be striving for back-to-back wins for the first time under senior coach Ben Rutten against the Kangaroos.
