ALESSIO COMEBACK IN VFL
Essendon's number one ruckman Steven Alessio will take a significant step towards returning to the Bombers' senior line-up this Saturday. Alessio has been named in Essendon's VFL side that will take on Coburg tomorrow. ""He'll play provided he pulls up well from today's final VFL training session,"" Essendon football manager Matthew Drain said. ""He won't play a full game but it will be an important step forward.""

Alessio has been struggling to shake an achilles / calf injury for the past month. But he returned to full training on Wedensday afternoon at the MCG and everything looks set for him to make his long-awaited return. Should Alessio come through the VFL match unscathed, he may travel to Brisbane for the Grand Final re-match with Brisbane.
